Yesterday I had an interesting series of phone calls...
The first was from my father; we chit-chatted for a few minutes and then he simply said, "Call your mother."
Hmmm, usually he just relays information from her to me if we talk or vice versa if I am talking to my mother. No good can come of this...
My mom informed me that my Grandmother has cancer. Still too early to assume the worst. She has beat it once before, but she was 15 years younger. She is going to see a specialist today.
The second phone call was from one of my best friends. We've known each other since high school. He still keep in touch, but not as often as we should so a phone call from him is usually a nice surprise.
Usually.
His father passed away on Dec. 11th. I last saw his father about year ago. He was healthy and enjoying life. I didn't know he was sick (not many did). My friend seemed to be handling it very well. His mom is having a very hard time. They were a couple that loved each other very much and it showed.
Terry Yates, you will be missed.

Hey, I'm not quite as old as grandma probably is, but I've beaten cancer twice. It ain't over 'til it's over.
Hang in there....
So sorry to read all this, Dan. Either of those alone would have been hard to handle; both together must have been pretty devastating.
I'll keep your grandmother in my thoughts and will hope that she can be made as comfortable as possible. My sympathies to the Yates family.
Rebecca
